CBD clinical research

CBD clinical research is a rapidly developing field focused on investigating the health benefits of cannabis.

Dozens of reputable studies have been published confirming that CBD has a number of therapeutic effects, including the relief of anxiety, insomnia, chronic pain, and inflammation.

CBD has also been found to help with epilepsy and neurological diseases, such as reducing the occurrence of seizures in patients unresponsive to conventional medications.

Although several high-quality randomized clinical trials have been conducted since 2017, several very exciting human trials are still ongoing today.

The position of the Estonian Medicines Board already in 2017 regarding cannabinoids in research-based clinical medicine:

    1. Substances affecting the endocannabinoid system have drug development potential in several medical fields
    2. States must allow pre-clinical and clinical trials of cannabinoids to be conducted freely to test scientifically valid hypotheses

    3. Marijuana smoking is not a suitable administration method for use in clinical medicine or for research, preparations with a safe administration method with a precisely known composition must be developed;
    4. In order for a promising molecule to become a drug, a high-quality preparation must be prepared and a reasonable balance of benefits and risks must be proven in randomized clinical trials, also for substances affecting the endocannabinoid system;
